ACID RAP
Do you ever go through phases where you just listen to the same album on repeat for literal days? I do. Right now it's Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap (literally four years late and also technically a mixtape but ok). In the midst of being knee deep in this ~mixtape~ I decided to do a look inspired by not only the artwork but also the overall "vibe". Chill but also hype af. Ya feel?
Before I started this look I knew I was going to be
1. Working with a lot of pinks
2. Doing a goddamned cut crease but one of those intense ones makeup artists on Twitter do.
Seriously, if you don't follow makeup Twitter you're missing out on hella inspiration.
To get the crisp line under my eye I used tape as a guide. If you're going to do this make sure you make the tape less sticky before putting it on your face and do your eye makeup before your base makeup otherwise you're going to have one hell of a time cleaning up after.
Starting the look out I dipped my NYX Pro Blending brush into Makeup Geek's Tuscan Sun. I buffed this light peachy/pink shade into my crease all the way up to my brow bone. I wanted this look to be really blown out and dramatic. To keep the color subtle I used mostly windshield wiper motions w/ a few little circular ones.
Next right over top of that color I used Colourpop's Stay Golden. I wanted this color to be brighter and more concentrated so I focused on using circular motions using the same NYX brush. I blended this under my eye as well to keep that blown-out effect I mentioned earlier. To blend Tuscan Sun and Stay Golden I used my clean Sigma E35.
I added Colourpop's 143 to my inner brow bone and outer crease with my Morphe M574. I didn't want this to make as much of a statement as the pinks, I wanted it to mainly deepen where I was going to "cut" my crease to add more depth. I added a little bit of Stay Golden to my lid (about 1/3 of the way in) to map out where I would be ending my carved crease as well as where I'd blend my lid shade to.
Next it was time to cut my crease. To do this I used a little bit of Tarte's Shape Tape concealer on a Morphe M167. When I say a little bit I really mean a LITTLE BIT - like enough to cover 1/4 of the brush. This product is *full coverage* and less is more I promise, otherwise you'll get a cakey lid and there is no fixing that. This brush in my opinion is the best for cut creases because it's flat and literally the perfect shape.
To cut the crease I start towards the inner part of my eyes and work towards the corner. I map out where my natural crease is and add product a little bit about that to give a more dramatic effect. For this particular look I knew I didn't want a "full" cut crease so I worked most of my product on the inner part of my lid and worked towards my out corner once there was less product on my brush, feathering out the edges.
Once my crease was once again a blank canvas I dipped that same Morphe M167 into Sphere from Anastasia Beverly Hill's Prism palette. I placed Sphere directly overtop of where I had applied my concealer in the same way, packing on the color.
To blend out the edge of where Sphere and Stay Golden would meet, I picked up the two colors on my finger and patted them on. One at a time, depending which I needed more of. Doing this created a more seamless transition.
I deepened my outer corner with a mixture of Makeup Geek's Mars (from the Manny MUA palette) and Obsidian from the ABH Prism palette first with a Sigma E25 to diffuse the colors then my Morphe 574 to add more concentrated color.
I finished the look with a black winged liner (this one is my favorite, I've been using it for literal years) and Eylure lashes in Fiercely Fabulous.
That's it! Would you guys be interested in *all* product details on my face instead of just eyes? I always just focus on eyes because I zone out in most tutorials when they switch from eyes to face. Idk. Let me know.
I'm out - until next time. Follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks at looks before they're posted here.
