can you duplicate an icon?
In 2016 Anastasia Beverly Hills *shook* the beauty community with the release of Modern Renaissance. It was a time when warm eye looks we're IT and every palette on the market seemed to be the same mix of five-six brown eyeshadows with a gold and black eyeshadow thrown in.. *cough cough* UD Naked palettes. Modern Renaissance was the palette we never knew we needed. It still had the warm tones we'd become accustom to but threw in a couple vibrant pinks, a red and a beautiful true orange. Prior red and pink eyeshadows weren't something you wore in fear of looking sick.
It opened the doorway for other brands to experiment with what warm tones could be and boy, did they go running with that. Today's post is comparing the iconic Modern Renaissance palette to Wet n' Wild's recently released Rosé in the Air. Side by side the two look identical. Is it possible to dupe an icon?
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette contains 14 eyeshadows for $42 USD. The formulation of this palette is absolutely out of this world; The shadows are pigmented but not too pigmented that they're difficult to work with, they blend with little effort and with the right eye base they last all day. It has the perfect amount of transition shades, deepening shades, "pops of color" and shimmers. The number of looks you can do with this palette is truly limitless.
I highly recommend this if you're someone who wears makeup daily. If you can afford to or just want to splurge a little bit I recommend investing in this palette due to its versatility. You'll really never get bored of this palette.
Wet n' Wild Rosé in the Air is 10 eyeshadows for $4.99 USD. Yes, $5 as in the same price as a drink from Starbucks. The formula of this palette is VERY comparable to Modern Renaissance. In fact on the eyes I would say they're identical. The biggest difference in formula between the two is the Rosé in the Air is all around warmer and more pigmented. That being said, it is very easy to go overboard with this palette. A little goes a long way. What this palette is lacking in my opinion, is just one more shimmer shade and one more cooler shade to go with the lavender shade. Is that a deal breaker? Absolutely not.
I would recommend this palette if you're just getting into makeup, if you want to save some $$$ (who doesn't?) or if you already have a lot of eyeshadow palettes. This palette is a lot smaller than MR so it will travel easier but be careful if you're flying because the packaging is not very stable and it could potentially shatter.
Do I recommend one over the other? No, they're both beautiful products. It'll come down to your own personal preferences but you probably don't *need* to pick up both if you already have one or the other.
