COLOR MEETS GRUNGE
Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture. The most talked about palette of 2017. While the majority of beauty guru's could not stand the palette, there's a small handful of us who genuinely love it.
What most people don't realize about Subculture is that it isn't meant to be a "pretty" palette. She's grungy, messy, dark. She is ultra pigmented and that can be intimidating for a lot of people. If you work with a light hand and the right tools however, no palette is impossible. Not even Subculture. Honestly, every time I work with this palette I fall in love all over again.
Let's go into a step-by-step of how I achieved this look.
For this look I started by dipping my NYX Pro Blending brush into "Edge". I blended the color just above the crease in both small circular motions as well as windshield wiper motions. Once that was blended to my liking I put my new Real Techniques Instapop Shader to the test. I picked up "Axis" and packed it onto the inner part of my lid. Once that had less product on it I blended the color to the middle of my lid.
To blend "Edge" and "Axis" together more seamlessly I used a clean Sigma E35 to buff the two together.
Next, with my Real Techniques Instapop Crease brush I placed "All Star" on to the outer v of my eye, first packing it on the blending it toward where the blend of "Axis" ended.
Again with my Sigma E35 I blended "All Star" and "Axis" together.
To deepen the outer corner and add more depth I used my Real Techniques Smudge brush to add "Rowdy". With my Sigma E25 I picked up a mix of "Edge" and "All Star" to smoke out below my lash line.
At this point I decided the look was looking a smidge to flat being that I used all matte shades so I packed on a little of "Electric" in the inner corner of my eye as well as over top of "Axis".
Still, not enough pop so.. I picked up my absolute new favorite product. Urban Decay's Heavy metal liner in Pyro. WHY did it take me so long to hop on this bandwagon? Not sure. 10/10 did not know what I was truly missing out on. This shade in particular is a white/clear base with a holographic almost ~pastel~ glitter. AB SO FUCKING LUTELY GORGEOUS. Anyway. I put this over top of where I just put "Electric" and that was the cherry on top for this look.
To play up the grungy-ness of this look I used Kat Von D's "Lolita" and topped it off with Fenty Beauty's "Gloss Bomb" aka THE lipgloss everyone needs. It's not sticky but has so much shine. I die. So pretty over top of lipstick or by itself.
That's all for this grungy, colorful fall look. Next look will be an album inspired look and I am so excited to tell you all about it.
